Saturday, February 17 - I arrived at the
lake around 8:30 am to find the platform had already been assembled and placed
next to the marker buoy that was frozen in the ice. By 9:00 am the rest of
the crew arrived and began setting up Pipes Point Winter Camp. Holes were
cut in the ice, then myself and Alex went under the ice to attach ropes to
remove the large slab of ice to drop the platform through.
Once the hole was open, we added weights to the
platform, attached ropes and slowly lowered it to the bottom. The
platform needs to be leveled out, but that process is scheduled for the
March ice dives.
Sunday, February 18 - Excess weights were
removed from the submerged platform, cave lines were moved from old
scuba bottle to the platform. John Martin and I verified
that previously installed cave lines to 70' ridge were still installed,
and ran new line from 70' ridge (bird point on ridge) west to 5th pipe
on the "Five Pipe Tour."
I have put more pictures on the RUEG photo Gallery.
