November 18 & 19 - Work has officially
began on the Pipes Point Project.
A proposed platform location was marked at the proper
depth for Open Water training exercises.
Three LSD's were installed on the guide line leading to
pipes on ridge to keep the line out of the silt for scooter runs and
other recreational divers. A second TSMD was installed for scooter and
staged diving at the Pipes Point dive site.
Preliminary drawings/measurements were done to start the
topographical mapping of Pipes Point. Brush and rock clearing began to
proposed pathway to dive entry area.
There was also a technical dive made to try and locate
Sump House for technical diver attraction to Pipes Point dive site, and
a garbage can relocated to Pipes Point to make it all official.
November 25 & 26 - We arrived to find
Terry had already chopped up the tree that had fallen down by entry
point
The Line running to the deep 70' platform was tightened up
for ice diving. Lines were also ran from straggly brush (starting
point) to deep platform and pipes on ridge. Length and compass readings
were also taken on lines.More measurements were taken for mapping and
more brush was burned in an effort to clean up entry point.
More pictures were also taken for final project layout and mapping.
John Martin was called several times just to make him feel bad for
not being able to come. We now know that he was home calculating gas
accounts! We do appreciate his detailed work in this area to keep
our mixing process running smoothly.
